Fixed boundary condition constrains all the available degrees of freedom (DOF). Displacement/rotation BC allows the user to select individual DOFs. The following options are available for each DOF:

  • Unconstrained – no boundary condition imposed on this DOF.
  • Fixed – freezes the deformation from the previous step or, if there is no previous step, sets it to zero.
  • Value (length unit/angle unit) – a prescribed value of displacement (current length units for translational DOFs and radians for rotational ones).

Keep in mind that a Fixed option and a Value option cannot be used simultaneously for various DOFs in the same boundary condition.

In the case of a sub-model boundary condition, each DOF has the following two options: Unconstrained and From global model.
